Ventus uses Gas Enhancement Mode (GEM) to process thermal data onboard and render detected hydrocarbon leaks as colorized overlays in real time. Operators see leaks as they happen, with no post-processing delay and no ambiguity. GEM is calibrated to the peak absorption wavelengths of methane, propane, and a broad range of volatile organic compounds, enabling reliable detection of even the smallest fugitive emissions across valves, connectors, pumps, compressors, and flanges.
The Ventus imaging core is built around Sierra-Olympia’s long-life HOT MWIR detector housed in a miniature closed-cycle Stirling cooler with an F1.5 cold shield, one of the smallest, lightest, and most energy-efficient OGI camera cores on the market. At 640 × 512 resolution with a 15 µm pixel pitch, the sensor delivers exceptional thermal sensitivity for detecting fugitive emissions that evade routine ground inspections. Available in 25 mm and 50 mm lens configurations to support both corridor-based and wide-area survey missions.
Integrated with the WISPR SkyScout2+, Ventus enables rapid deployment over large, complex facilities, covering tank farms, wellpads, pipeline corridors, and compressor stations in a fraction of the time required by ground-based inspection teams. Its compact, lightweight design preserves SkyScout2+ flight time and maneuverability, while its aerial vantage point reaches hazardous or physically inaccessible locations without exposing personnel to flammable or toxic gas concentrations.
Ventus meets EPA OOOOa, OOOOb, OOOOc, and Appendix K requirements for optical gas imaging, the federal standards governing fugitive emissions detection across oil and gas production, processing, and transmission operations. Every mission produces a documented, verifiable record of emissions survey activity, supporting self-reporting workflows, third-party audit requirements, and formal regulatory submissions.
