Introducing the WISPR 61 Flex: One Payload, More Possibilities

Tuesday, 6 October, 2026

WISPR Systems is introducing the WISPR 61 Flex, a high-resolution imaging payload designed to give operators more flexibility across mapping, surveying, inspection, and other demanding missions.

Powered by the Sony LR1, the WISPR 61 Flex combines a 61.0 effective-megapixel full-frame sensor with interchangeable lens options, onboard processing, advanced camera controls, and RTK and PPK compatibility.

The result is a professional imaging payload built not only for image quality, but also for easier deployment and more efficient field workflows.

Built for Real-World UAV Workflows

Professional cameras can deliver exceptional imagery, but integrating them into a drone platform can require additional software development, onboard computing, or third-party tools.

The WISPR 61 Flex is purpose-built to remove much of that complexity.

Onboard compute manages communication between the camera and aircraft natively, eliminating the need for operators to create their own SDK integrations or rely on separate software to control the payload.

From the controller, operators can manage key camera functions including:

• Shutter speed
• Aperture
• ISO
• Exposure modes
• Focus area and focus mode
• Live camera view

Captured images can also be reviewed in real time during the mission. That means operators can verify image quality, make adjustments, and confirm they captured the necessary data before leaving the site.

By reducing the need to land, remove SD cards, or wait until post-flight review to identify an issue, the WISPR 61 Flex can help reduce repeat flights and unnecessary rework.

One Payload for Multiple Missions

The WISPR 61 Flex is designed to support a wide range of applications from a single payload ecosystem.

Use cases include:

• Mapping and surveying
• Infrastructure and asset inspection
• Guided tower scans
• Corridor missions
• Panoramic missions
• Digital twins
• Construction and industrial workflows
• Public safety
• Government applications

Operators can use mission-specific mapping and inspection presets for a more streamlined setup or take full manual control when conditions require more precise image tuning.

That flexibility allows both experienced camera operators and teams looking for a simpler field workflow to use the same payload effectively.

Flexible Lens Options

Different missions require different perspectives, which is why the WISPR 61 Flex supports multiple lens configurations.

Available lens options include:

• 35mm f/2.8 for mapping and wider-area data capture
• 50 mm f/2.8 for versatile, mid-range imaging that balances coverage and detail
• 75mm for detailed inspection applications

The 35mm configuration supports efficient mapping coverage, while the 50mm provides a balanced field of view for missions that require both broader context and closer detail. The 75mm lens allows operators to capture greater detail during inspections without needing to reposition the aircraft as close to the asset.

This gives teams the ability to configure the payload around the mission while staying within the same integrated system.

61MP High-Resolution Imaging

Powered by the Sony LR1, the WISPR 61 Flex features a 61.0 effective-megapixel full-frame image sensor designed to capture highly detailed imagery with low noise and wide dynamic range.

Key imaging capabilities include:

• 61-megapixel photo resolution
• 9504 x 6336 image size
• Full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor
• JPEG, HEIF, and RAW image formats
• 4K video at up to 59.94p
• 1080p video at up to 119.88p
• Mechanical and electronic shutter options
• Adjustable ISO, exposure, shutter speed, aperture, and focus

At 300 feet, with the 35mm lens, the payload can achieve a ground sampling distance of approximately 0.98 cm/px, helping teams capture detailed datasets while maintaining efficient flight operations.

For mapping applications, the combination of high resolution and flexible optics can also help reduce the number of passes needed to collect the required imagery.

Designed for Mapping and Inspection

The WISPR 61 Flex bridges two workflows that often require different equipment.

For mapping, operators benefit from high-resolution imagery, wide-area lens options, real-time RTK precision navigation, and support for high-accuracy PPK post-processing workflows.

For inspection, the payload adds features such as magnification, detailed lens options, live view, and in-flight image review.

The ability to capture and validate imagery during flight can be especially valuable for infrastructure, utilities, construction, and industrial applications where missing a critical detail may otherwise require another trip to the site.

Accurate Positioning for Professional Data Capture

The WISPR 61 Flex is compatible with RTK and PPK workflows, allowing imagery to be paired with precise positioning data.

Depending on the mission and workflow, teams can achieve up to sub-centimeter accuracy, supporting surveying, mapping, digital twin creation, and other applications where reliable positioning is essential.

Built for the SkyScout 2+

When paired with the SkyScout 2+, the WISPR 61 Flex becomes part of a fully integrated imaging and flight system.

The SkyScout 2+ is designed for stable operation in demanding field conditions, including wind tolerance up to approximately 50 mph. That stability can help support sharper imagery and more consistent datasets during both mapping and inspection missions.

The SkyBoss Smart Controller further streamlines the workflow by bringing flight controls, live camera view, camera settings, and image review together in the field.

For operators, that means less guessing and more control. Imagery can be captured, reviewed, and adjusted during the mission instead of waiting until after the flight to determine whether the necessary data was collected.

Professional Imaging, Built for the Field

The WISPR 61 Flex brings professional imaging technology into a UAV workflow designed around real-world operations.

With a 61MP full-frame sensor, interchangeable lenses, direct camera control, live image review, RTK and PPK compatibility, and seamless integration with the SkyScout platform, it gives teams the flexibility to take on a wider range of missions without adding unnecessary complexity to the field workflow.

One payload. More applications. Less friction in the field.
